We Are Project Nebula

Project Nebula is a student-based nonprofit robotics team founded in 2019, focused on ocean engineering through the design and development of innovative remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) systems. Based in Arlington, Texas, our seven member team brings together top students from diverse technical backgrounds to tackle underwater challenges.

Our Team

Built by three disciplines

Project Nebula brings together students from across engineering and computer science to design, build, and program our autonomous underwater vehicles.

Electrical

Designs and builds the power systems, custom PCBs, and sensor integrations that keep our AUVs running reliably underwater. The electrical team ensures every component communicates seamlessly, from thrusters to cameras.

Mechanical

Engineers the physical frame, watertight enclosures, and custom hardware of each vehicle. Using CAD and 3D printing, the mechanical team builds structures tough enough to withstand the pressures of competitive underwater environments.

Computer Science

Programs the autonomy stack that lets our AUVs think and act independently. From computer vision and object detection to mission planning and real-time control, the CS team gives our vehicles the intelligence to compete.
